Plasmacluster's technology is built into the car's air conditioning system and operates through the driver-side air vent by releasing both positive (+) and negative ions into the cabin, aimed at purifying the air and reducing airborne viruses and mold.

SHARP created the method of using plasma discharge to give water a positive charge and oxygen a negative charge. The positive (H⁺) and negative (O₂⁻) ions of Plasmacluster attach to the surface of airborne viruses and other particles, turning into OH radicals. With their powerful oxidizing ability, OH radicals quickly remove hydrogen (H) from the protein on the surface of viruses and other particles, breaking down the protein and reducing activity.
